Wednesday, April 24 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

A Journey through the ages to uncover layers of the Northwoods’ captivating history. Every chapter unfolds a deeper connection and sense of place. Join us for the fifth program in our Sense of Place series.  The axe and saws of lumberjacks along with railroad operations dramatically transformed Northwoods around the turn of the 20th century. Join Jim Bokern, Manitowish Waters Historical Society, and discover how lumber companies, pioneer families, and railroads spurred new communities as the Northwoods transitioned from a wild frontier. New images and insights regarding logging and railroads will be shared. Registration required by 4/23/24.  Program is held at the North Lakeland Discovery Center Main Lodge.  $12/Non-Member, $8/Member.   Light snacks and cash bar 5:30-6 pm, program 6-7 pm.
