Day Trip To The Waterfalls

The sight and sound of water roaring, cascading down a 20-foot drop and splashing into the pool below in one of northern Wisconsin’s waterfalls is an incredible experience. Waterfalls are considered  one of our area’s best-kept secrets, and a trip to the falls is a must-do on your next trip north. Within an 80-mile radius of Manitowish Waters, visitors can explore an abundance of breathtaking and beautiful waterfalls; some are dramatic and wild, while others gently trip along the rocks and fall with a whisper.

In the summer months, visitors can have diverse experiences exploring the waterfalls across the area. Some have well-established parking lots with clearly marked trails and draw large numbers of tourists, while others offer rustic, intimate experiences with nature. Area falls offer an array of waterfall-viewing opportunities from providing overlook platforms within sight of the parking lot to requiring a distant hike to capture these magnificent creations.

As seasons change, fall colors design a gorgeous backdrop to explore the rustic roads of the area and the bubbling cascades. When the snow flies, rushing water transforms into crystalline ice formations. Explore waterfall areas on snowshoes to wander the stone embankments, towering forests and ice pillars.
