Superior Waterfall Geo-Hike
Friday, September 1 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
n addition to their natural beauty, the waterfalls and scenic overlooks along the southern Lake Superior margin expose rocks that range in age from 1.0 to over 2.2 billion years old. The bedrock is well exposed in many localities due to widespread erosion from the last glacial advance. Field trip stops will show the strong influence of geology on the development of some of these local waterfalls. While none of the trails to the falls is more than ¾ of a mile, this trip is rated moderately strenuous to strenuous, due to steep terrain/stairs around waterfall accessibility.
Our hope is to all travel together in our van. Registered participants will be sent instructions and a list of what to bring prior to the trip. Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Registration required by 8/30. $65/Non-Member and $55/Member.
