Get Creative with Beads Workshop

Monday, July 24 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The tradition of beadwork traces back to more than 70,000 years in the past. Today handcrafted beaded jewelry is found all over the world.  The Admission Fee of this workshop will allow participants to make one bracelet and one necklace similar to the ones shown in the photos below.  Additional beads may be purchased from the instructor during the workshop if more beads are desired for your particular bracelet or necklace design, or if you wish to make additional bracelets or necklaces.  The cost of the beads will vary, depending on the type you choose. (i.e. semi-precious beads cost more than wooden beads). There will be a wide variety of beads to choose from; including wooden, metal, lava, glass, pearls, and semi-precious gemstone beads.

All materials and supplies will be provided.  A basic bead stringing technique will be used for the bracelets and some knotting will be used for the necklaces. No experience necessary!   Registration required by 7/22.  Monday 1 – 3 pm.  Participants will meet in the Forest Room in Discovery Hall at the Discovery Center.  $25/Non-Member and $20/Member.
