Fly Tying and Fishing Event
Saturday, June 17 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Discovery Center will be hosting Bob Haase and Terry Cummings for this fun event where anyone is invited to tie a couple panfish flies. They can then take those flies down to the lake where volunteers will help them try to catch some bluegills, or other panfish on the flies. All the materials will be furnished to tie the flies, and rods and reels will also be available to fish with. If a person has their own rods and reels, they can bring them to use instead. They can use a pinning rod with a spinning float to cast the fly, or they can use a fly rod. Because of staffing and space limitations, we might have to limit fishing time based on how many people are waiting to fish. Both Bob and Terry are members of Trout Unlimited, and experienced fly tiers that can help anyone tie a fly.
Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Registration is limited so please register by 6/15. Registration is not required, however, those folks who have registered will be given first priority to tie flies and fish with Bob and Terry. Then it will be on a first-come-first-serve basis to tie the flies and fish with Bob and Terry. Folks can drop into the workshop anytime between 10 AM and 4 PM! $15/Non-Member and $10/Member. The workshop will be held in the Forest Room in the Nature Hall at the Discovery Center.
