The Art of Meditation with artist J.K. Roche
This class is an interactive study on unlocking creative potential through incorporating meditation practices into our every-day lives. The discussion is geared toward learning about the art of mediation and is designed to provide an opportunity to sample meditation methods such as; making mandalas, inspiration boards, and labyrinths. The focus is to BE INSPIRED! The class will end with a recorded guided meditation.
Artist Statement: The most frequent question that I am asked about writing poetry is, “Where do you get your inspiration?” I have learned that setting aside time and space to be in the creative process is an intentional action. Meditation can help us to create that opportunity to be refreshed, inspired and creative!
About the Artist: J.K. Roche is a local poet and writer from Presque Isle, WI. Judith’s primary occupation is writing and she is currently working on a novel set in the Northwoods in the 1950s. She began writing songs with an Alvarez guitar purchased from her first pay check in the United States Air Force at age 17. After her military service, Judith continued songwriting during college and while working as a high school and early childhood teacher. Many of her songs are about her daughters, family life, spiritual awareness, nature and observations on life’s bigger questions. During a period of convalescing, her songwriting evolved into poetry writing.
