Seasonal Outdoor Recreation Opportunities (11/8/12) PDF Print
For Immediate Release – November 8. 2012

Manitowish Waters, WI – The North Lakeland Discovery Center is a place where people can come to connect to the natural world. Our location in the Northwoods of Wisconsin is beautifully remote, surrounded by water and forests, and yet accessible to visitors. Whether you have vast experience in the outdoors or are new to exploring, we have opportunities for your interests and skill levels.

Wednesday, 12-1pm, December 5, Discovery Center Waters Specialist, Anne Kretschmann, presents at the Boulder Junction Public Library on aquatic invasive species of the Northwoods.  Learn how to identify the most common culprits and what you can do to help our northern waters.  Free to the public, donations appreciated.

Enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing and wildlife watching along our 12-mile trail system. Our trails are OPEN TO EVERYONE, from dawn to dusk. The terrain is gentle and winds through the woods, along the lake, bog and nearby Manitowish River allowing you to explore a variety of habitats each with their own unique plants and animals. In the winter, trails are tracked for classic skiing, and we have snowshoes available for use.

Families can also enjoy indoor adventure in our cozy Nature Nook.  Learn about the Northwoods through our variety of educational displays, reading corner and live animals.
