Christmas Bird Counts Join the Discovery Center Bird Club and Naturalist John Bates in this wonderful citizen science activity focused on monitoring the abundance if our winter resident birds. This is a great activity for beginner and experienced birders alike. Counts will take place in Minocqua (December 14th) and Manitowish Waters (December 16th). Call ahead for details.

Ladies! We are going to be starting a special women’s biking group for WinMan Wednesday this summer. While you might love a good shred with the gentlemen, sometimes you might just want to cruise and then drink rosé around the fire. Never tried mountain biking? We will give you some basic skills to have a fun ride. Don’t have a bike? David Bartling, a fourth generation grower at Bartling’s Manitowish Cranberry Company in Manitowish Waters, will bring you through the seasons on a cranberry bog. From early spring mornings, to cold winter days, growing the tart, red berry is a year-round commitment that creates what some call “the world’s most beautiful harvest”.
