Art Workshop – “The Heartbeat – Leather Drum Making” @ Campanile Center for the Arts
Apr 9 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
MINOCQUA, WI – Campanile Center for the Arts is hosting a series of workshops called Circle in the Center. These workshops, held the 2nd Saturday of each month, are held on the stage in the Campanile theatre underneath the large circular skylight. Participants will gather together with a different artist instructor each month to learn a new technique and take home their very own work of art. On Saturday, April 9, Penny Mykytka, will be teaching “The Heartbeat – Leather Drum Making”.  In this workshop the 10 inch drums students will be making are modeled after traditional Native American drums. The rawhide used is processed here in the USA and the frame is made from laminated hardwood. An Alderwood drumstick will be made as well. Penny will also give instruction on how to decorate your drum at home after the rawhide has dried. Drum making and the drumming itself is wonderful therapy for the mind and body.   Campanile Center for the Arts, located in Downtown Minocqua at the corner of Milwaukee and Flambeau Streets, is committed to developing, promoting & supporting the performing and visual arts in the Lakeland community through education, performance & exhibition.
