A country music extravaganza featuring Lee Walker’s Country Showcase will bring a pre-Valentine’s Day celebration to the Manitowish Waters Community Center on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The fun begins at 8:05 pm, giving guests time to enjoy a dinner at one of the local dining establishments before enjoying the music and dancing at the Community Center until 11:05pm.
Lee Walker is a vocalist, rhythm guitar player and national promoter with over 35 years in the country music industry. He has selected five phenomenal artists to perform with him in the Lee Walker Country Showcase on Saturday, February 10 in Manitowish Waters including Brent Clauson, Glenn Runnels, Kathy Ruenger, Bob Poels and Cody Clauson. The show will present a full mix of instruments and vocals covering country music from the 60’s though the 90’s, as well as a few current songs. Hors d’oeuvres and dessert will be served. A cash bar serving beer, wine and soda will be available.
Only 150 tickets are being sold and may be purchased for $25 each at the Manitowish Waters Chamber of Commerce. Lee Walker’s Country Showcase is being presented by the Manitowish Waters Community Foundation with the help and support of local businesses and volunteers. Showcase proceeds stay in the community and are used to improve the quality of life through support and enhancement of cultural, educational and recreational activities.
The Showcase artists are a diverse group that complement each other well. Brent Clauson will travel from Coloma, Wisconsin where he created The Clauson Family Music Show now at the Historic Barn Theatre. Brent sings and plays the steel guitar, piano, banjo and fiddle. Glenn Runnels is also a vocalist and fiddle player, but he adds mandolin and acoustic guitar to the mix. Glenn hails from Wisconsin Rapids and has a passion for country music. He is the house fiddle player for the International Steel Guitar Show in St. Louis, MO. Kathy Ruenger is an extremely talented and dynamic vocalist and bass guitar player that has performed in the Midwest for several years. She will be featured in her debut with the Showcase. Bob Poels began his professional career at the age of 15. As a drummer and gifted vocalist, his performances ranged from country, rock, jazz, blues, swing, big band and contemporary Christian. After placing first in the GMC Country Showdown Vocalist/Songwriting competition, he recorded a country CD at the Sound Emporium in Nashville, Tennessee. Finally, Cody Clauson is an exceptional entertainer playing lead guitar, tenor banjo, piano and fiddle. He is making his debut in the Showcase and is sure to delight.
